THE RIGHT STUFF: WHEN PRIDE IS INAPPROPRIATE

By John DiGirolamo, The Right Stuff

Back in 1972 Alice Cooper told us “School’s Out For Summer.” A lot has changed since I was in the second grade. Just because the kids are on summer break doesn’t mean the LGBTQ militants won’t be busy trying to destroy childhood. The woke crowd will continue until it cancels every last sane voice that doesn’t want children indoctrinated about gender ideology. Even old-school liberal Bill Maher, who is pro-gay, is not allowed to express anything other than full capitulation to the mob. GLAAD, an anti-traditional values group, recently attacked Maher for daring to question whether it is a good idea to surgically mutilate children. GLAAD considers these body-destroying surgeries and life-altering hormone drugs as “gender affirming.” But isn’t this actually child abuse? Bill Maher said, “This isn’t just a lifestyle decision, it’s medical. Weighing trade-offs is not bigotry. Kids have phases.”

He is correct, but in today’s cancel culture and gay militant world we live in, an unapproved opinion is not allowed. Dissent is punished. As expected, there have been calls by these bullies to have Mr. Maher fired. So much for tolerance. In our modern world tolerance only flows in one direction. Remember during the George W. Bush presidency, shortly after 9/11 when liberals called “dissent” “patriotic”? You can bet they don’t applaud dissent anymore. An elementary school student doesn’t have the maturity to decide what should be served for lunch, let alone make a selection from the sexuality menu.

Did you ever go to school with a Tomboy? You know, girls who did boy stuff, like sports. They found their femininity in their teenage years. What is truly frightening is that now they would be told to transition to a boy. And most likely they would be encouraged by a teacher or school counselor without parental knowledge or consent. LGBTQ+ indoctrination is happening all over the country. If you think Chaffee County is immune, think again. The local print newspaper featured an article about the gay “pride” parade and celebration featuring Drag Kings and Queens in Salida last weekend. That’s nothing to be proud of.

Back in 2019, when Chick-fil-A (CFA) announced that it would no longer donate to Christian based charities, Zach Stafford, former editor-in-chief of The Advocate, declared, “THE GAYS HAVE WON.” Gay activists for years have preached “tolerance,” yet their behavior seemed strangely intolerant. CFA experienced the wrath of activist bullies not for actually discriminating against homosexuals in the workforce or in their restaurants, but because of the charities they favored. But I doubt the alphabet bullies will be satisfied with a change in CFA donation plans. They won’t stop until CFA sponsors a “pride” parade and a rainbow flag flies at every restaurant. But what was more interesting were the resulting headlines, such as from ABC News, “CFA ends donations to anti-LBGTQ organizations.” Notice they didn’t say, “Pro traditional-marriage supporters bullied by hate-filled LGBTQ activists.” The mainstream media news organizations think they are journalists, but we all know they are activists. They don’t even hide it anymore. Their “news” articles, and especially the headlines, sneakily try to move public opinion.

Remember years ago we were told that legalizing “gay” marriage would have no effect on anyone but the happy couple? We were told that “love is love” and gay marriage won’t impact your life. Yet, the gay activist group GLAAD was pleased to report only two years ago that slightly over 10% of all television characters are LBGTQ. It’s no surprise to anyone watching television. You can’t watch a TV show without having the now-required gay character, which seems to be thrown in to appease the militants rather than for plot relevancy. But GLAAD is not glad enough about 10% representation. They are now pressuring the industry to move the percent of LGBTQ characters up to 20% by 2025. But it isn’t just in prime time, since your kids can watch same-sex kissing scenes on the Disney Channel (e.g., Andi Mack ). Think the Disney cartoons are exempt? Think again. Disney’s new Lightyear cartoon released on June 17, treats us with a scene of two females kissing. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again: your kids are being indoctrinated by the LGBTQ activists.

St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that pride, the inordinate love of self, is the cause of every sin. Pride is listed as #1 of the seven deadly sins. Is it a coincidence that the gay and trans crowd celebrate pride?
