LOCAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY LAW LICENSE SUSPENDED

LOCAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY LAW LICENSE SUSPENDED

Written by Charlotte Burrous, Fremont County Crusader Reporter . . . . . . . .

On Wednesday, June 1, 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley’s law license was suspended after she reportedly failed to submit information for the Continuing Legal Education necessary to retain her law license.

With this suspension, she will not be able to practice law or appear in court until she receives a reinstated license.

“It’s not a big deal,” Stanley told other news agencies. “There was a mix-up in who was sending what for the license requirements.”

She also said law license suspensions are not unusual.

According to Colorado Bar Association, it is mandatory for lawyers to complete 45 credit hours of continuing legal education every three years to remain certified by the Colorado Bar Association.

While campaigning for her position, Stanley faced a contentious race against a Democrat opponent. She won at the ballot box and was elected in November 2020, taking office in early 2021. In the meantime, the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will continue with its active cases in Fremont, Custer, Chaffee, and Park counties.

Crusader reporters were unable to reach Stanley for a comment.
